Danish Cultural Institute in the Baltic Sea Region is looking for new interns for February 2025.

Are you interested in art, culture and not least the Baltic countries and the Baltic Sea region – and do you want practical experience in developing international cultural projects? Then join us in Riga!

Danish Cultural Institute in the Baltic Sea Region is looking for two six-month interns starting 1 February 2025 and ending on 31 July 2025. Our office is located in Latvia’s capital, Riga, but we work with projects in all three Baltic countries and in the Baltic Sea Region including Belarus. As an intern with us, you will be an active part of a small, dynamic team. At the Danish Cultural Institute, we work with a wide understanding of the term “culture”, covering cultural exchange in the classic sense, including film festivals, art exhibitions and concerts, as well as more socially oriented projects in areas such as green transition, circular economy, media development, civil society, democracy, children and youth, gender and equality.

We are an informal workplace where exchange of knowledge, dialogue and good colleagueship are important! We have a lot of tasks ready, but there is always the opportunity to shape your internship with us according to your skills and areas of interest. We promise that it won’t be boring!

Our office is located close to the National Library of Latvia in Riga, there you will work on a daily basis. The team consists of approximately 10 employees, and as an intern you will be an important part of the office’s daily life. Work trips to other Baltic cities may occur.

Your tasks:

• Coordination and research
• PR, marketing and content creation for our social media
• Preparation of texts for websites
• Fund applications etc.
• Planning and execution of our projects

Who are you?

We would like you to be able to say yes to the following:

• You are studying in a relevant higher education program
• You are interested in Baltic affairs, culture and knowledge of the region
• You are good at communicating in Danish and English – both written and spoken. If you speak Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian, German, Polish or Belarusian, this is an advantage, but not a requirement
• You can work independently
• You have a good overview
• You have the versatility required to be part of a small workplace
• You have an interest/knowledge in the cultural field and/or international cooperation

Since 1940, the Danish Cultural Institute has worked internationally with the development of cultural and societal projects. Through art and culture, we want to promote intercultural dialogue and understanding across borders. Our vision is to show that the exchange of art, culture and knowledge can contribute to tackling global challenges and help strengthening the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

Terms and conditions

The internship period is typically six months starting around February 1, 2025, depending on the individual’s curriculum and university requirements. Duration and working hours are agreed with the office.

It is possible for our interns to arrange a flexible internship and still have time to take courses at the university.

The intern is responsible for necessary insurances, vaccinations, accommodation, etc. The Danish Cultural Institute can assist with visas.

The internship is unpaid.
